St. Nicholas School has been awarded all four of the Healthy Schools Awards, which include:
Emotional Health
Physical Activity
Healthy Eating
Personal, Social and Health Education.
This award was achieved with help from our School Council who gathered and presented the evidence. As part of the Healthy School Award the children are encouraged to have free fruit at playtime. We also promote Healthy Eating through our wide ranging lunch menus on offer and encourage healthy lunchboxes.
St. Nicholas School promotes an annual ‘Walk to School’ week, in which children, parents and staff are encouraged to walk to school. We actively encourage safe parking around the school and work closely with police and local traffic wardens to ensure the children’s safety.
Our Year 1 children take part in Pedestrian training sessions and our Year 5 children take their cycling proficiency tests.
